Safety management practices and procedures evolve over time. The issues faced by school EVCs change over time and although EVC training does not formally lapse it is good practice for EVCs to ‘revalidate’ their award by attending update training. Many organisations include a three-year requirement for EVC revalidation.

This course gives EVCs at all schools the opportunity to look into current material in more depth and share good practice with other EVCs.

Course content

This course will address current issues including:

  • Safeguarding
  • Trips in a climate of heightened security
  • Appropriate risk management procedures
  • Homestays
  • Quality badges
  • Training and monitoring of staff
  • Online approval systems

A valuable aspect of the day is the opportunity to share good practice with EVCs from similar schools. The number of places on the course is capped at 16 to allow discussion. Feedback from previous courses has been excellent.

Further information

The course is accredited by the Outdoor Education Advisers’ Panel (OEAP) and training will make use of current government literature relating to school visits.

By attending this course, delegates will earn 5 CPD points which can be put towards the yearly requirement of 35 CPD points to attain Chartered Geographer status. A certificate of attendance will be given for all delegates.
