Dr Deepak Veerappan is a researcher based in the UK with several years of fieldwork experience in India, as well as short expeditions to Egypt and West Africa. His research focuses on biodiversity documentation, biogeography and evolution of amphibians and reptiles.

His own surveys across India and his collaborative work have led to the discovery of 50 new species of amphibians and reptiles, including a new subfamily of snakes from the Western Ghats.
